Play For Easton Memorial Tournament Honoring The Life Of Easton Root
April 17, 2023
Travis Fields will play host to the inaugural Play For Easton Memorial Tournament, honoring the life of local Brazos Valley sportsman, Easton Root.
Easton's parents, Brad and Laura started the Play For Easton Foundation in Easton's honor after the young baseballer tragically lost his life due to liver disease at the age of 9. The mission of the foundation is to provide assistance, scholarships, and support to remove the financial barriers for children who want to play team sports in the Brazos Valley.
The May 13-14 tournament serves as a key fundraiser for the foundation but more importantly, a way to honor Easton's life through one of his great loves, baseball.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support of RCI and our community in helping honor our son Easton through this memorial tournament. This event will be a meaningful way for Easton’s friends and former teammates to pay tribute to him while raising money to help others through our nonprofit Play for Easton." Brad and Laura Root, Easton's parents and founders of the Play For Easton Foundation.
Easton was characterized by his love of sports, especially baseball. His determination and heart for his teammates were second to none. RCI Sports Management, the operators of Travis Fields are incredibly proud to be hosting this tournament in conjunction with V-Tool Youth. General Manager Amber Guthrie shares her support for the event.
"Sports are so impactful with the physical and mental development of athletes, especially youth athletes that promote transferrable skills into everyday life. We are so excited to be supporting an organization that is dedicated to providing these opportunities for the youth of the Brazos Valley."
The foundation is excited to invite the entire community to participate in the weekend at Travis Fields. There will be opportunities to donate directly to the foundation, participate in prize raffles and receive giveaways, all whilst watching some fantastic baseball. All proceeds will go towards the foundation and help achieve the mission of the Play For Easton Foundation. Please visit www.playforeaston.org for more information.
