Play for Easton 2025: Recap

June 11, 2025

May 10–11, 2025 • Travis Fields, Bryan TX

The third annual Play for Easton Memorial Tournament brought another unforgettable weekend to Travis Fields at Midtown Park — filled with youth baseball, community spirit, and a mission that goes far beyond the scoreboard.

Hosted May 10–11, the tournament welcomed 9U, 10U, and 12U teams from across the region for two days of competition on our fully synthetic turf fields. With a 4-game guarantee and live-streamed games, it was everything you’d expect from a first-class tournament — and so much more.

A Tournament with Purpose

The event honors the legacy of Easton Root, a young local athlete whose love for baseball and generous spirit inspired the creation of the Play for Easton Foundation. All funds raised during the tournament go directly to helping kids in the Brazos Valley overcome financial barriers to play team sports.

From registration fees to a silent auction and raffle, the community showed up in a big way — raising money to give more kids the opportunity to step onto the field and into the game.

“We’re able to help kids that wouldn’t have the opportunity to play,” said Kendyl Root in a KBTX interview.
“That was a big part of who Easton was — he just wanted everyone to have fun.”

Built on Values

This tournament is more than a yearly event — it’s a reflection of the values that drive the team behind it. At RCI Sports Management, Play for Easton represents the heart of what we believe in: community, access, and the transformative power of sports.

We’re proud to bring this event to life each year at Travis Fields, right in the heart of Bryan — a city we’re deeply connected to and committed to serving.
