More Than Sports

November 3, 2025

This season has been one for the books. My son, Jack, who has Down syndrome, turned 19 in September. He’s now hit two out-of-the-park homeruns — the first teenager on our team ever to do it, and the first player to hit two in one season.

Dillon, 30, who also has Down syndrome, hit it out of the park for the second time. And Jimmy, a player in his 50s with an intellectual disability, smashed his third homerun.

The excitement is contagious. Players who once hoped just to make contact are now dreaming bigger — setting their sights on that outfield fence. And those still working to make contact have the opportunity thanks to RCI. Our players are proving that when given a chance, anything is possible.

We’ve watched our teams grow in ways that go far beyond baseball — players learning to throw overhand, make tough catches, run the bases with confidence, and show incredible sportsmanship.

You gave us a field to play on, but really, you gave us so much more — a community, confidence, and unforgettable joy. For that, I am deeply grateful.
