AMARILLO NETPLEX: PARTNERSHIP WITH TURN CENTER

April 8, 2025

Amarillo Netplex is proud to announce a new partnership with the Turn Center, a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to providing therapy services to children with special needs. This collaboration not only aligns with the values of both organizations but also marks an exciting opportunity to create a lasting, positive impact on the Amarillo community.

A Shared Commitment to Community Impact

Amarillo Netplex recognizes the importance of creating meaningful social change by supporting local organizations that are doing essential work for the community. Partnering with nonprofits like the Turn Center allows us to give back to our neighbors in ways that extend beyond sports and recreation. This mission is in line with RCI Sports Management’s broader goal of fostering long-term relationships that center on community development and well-being.

The Turn Center is the only private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization serving the Texas Panhandle's Medically Underserved Area. The organization is committed to providing therapy services to children aged birth to 20 with developmental delays and disorders. These conditions may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries, and over 200 other diagnoses. Through occupational, physical, speech, and feeding therapy, as well as mental health counseling for families, Turn Center aims to provide hope and healing to children and families in need.

Their vision of improving the health and well-being of Texas Panhandle children aligns perfectly with the values of Amarillo Netplex and RCI Sports Management. Both organizations believe in the transformative power of therapy, support, and education, especially for those facing challenges that require specialized care.

The Partnership in Action

This partnership, suggested by Wes and Maureen Hedrick, two of Amarillo Netplex’s Round Robin leaders, had a meaningful impact on the children and families of the Texas Panhandle. Over the course of six weeks, the Hendricks, along with Paula Bencini, Steffanie Henderson and Mary Sue Adams, played pickleball with 10-12 children, helping to support and enhance the therapy services provided to those in need. This partnership represents not just the value of sports, but the importance of strengthening our collective community through compassion, care, and service.

In addition, Amarillo Netplex hosted a successful pickleball tournament fundraiser in partnership with West Texas A&M University (WT) and Roger's Lead. The event brought together local pickleball enthusiasts, community members, and supporters to enjoy a day of friendly competition, all while raising funds for Turn Center. With the support of WT and Roger's Lead, the tournament not only showcased the growing popularity of pickleball but also underscored the collective commitment to improving the lives of children in need. Proceeds from the event were donated to Turn Center, directly supporting their mission to provide essential therapy services to children.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward the future, Amarillo Netplex and RCI Sports Management remain dedicated to fostering meaningful partnerships that have a lasting, positive influence on our community. Our collaboration with the Turn Center is just the beginning of many initiatives designed to uplift those who need it most. By working together, we can continue to support families, improve the quality of life for local children, and inspire hope through service and therapy.
